First Look 3.3: Emblems of Frost

Welcome back to Part II of First Look 3.3, the column where I discuss the merits of the newest gear from Icecrown Citadel and the new tier emblem gear. Do note that more items are being found daily and so do check back for more updates to the loot list.

Today, I'll be touching upon the Emblems of Frost gear. Obviously, the new tier of emblems drop from Icecrown Citadel and the new VoA boss. The ilvl of EoF gears is equivalent to ICC25 and should be a worthy investments if you choose not to go after the T10 sets and their bonuses.

Armor

Castle Breaker's Battleplate - Featuring 3 gem slots and a +8 STR bonus, the color requirements makes the bonus look lackluster. Go for it only if you need the colors to fill your meta gem requirement. ArPen makes this less desirable to Retdins while DKs will find this chest a good upgrade.

Gatecrasher's Gauntlets
- Once again featuring ArPen, Rets will find that it's more worth it to spend their Emblems on other gear instead. Yellow and Red sockets make a good combination together with the +6 STR bonus.

Malevolent Girdle - A good belt for all plate wearers, the blue socket makes the bonus seems weak. Go for 3 red gems instead.

Might of the Ocean Serpent - The first Emblem cloak to feature STR, it's a must have for all who are unlucky enough to not see their cloak drop from ToTC25. The yellow socket and bonus is good enough for classes/spec that place high values on stats other than STR.

Accessories

Sigil of the Hanged Man - This sigil grants 219 STR fully stacked which is way better than the current EoT sigil. Plus, you get a guaranteed proc instead of relying on the RNG to proc the effect. A must have for all DKs.

Herkuml War Token - While featuring a high haste rating, Unholy DKs of the past would have lusted for this trink. There are definitely better options out there if you're looking for a decent trinket. The secondary effect models after Fury of the Five Flights, giving you 340 AP fully stacked. It's tough to see which effect is truly the main one and which one is icing on cake. [Personally, the haste seems more like the icing than the stacking AP effect]

Libram of Three Truths - Like all EoF relics, this libram stacks STR as you use a main ability. Fully stack, it gives you 220 STR at 100% proc rate. A must have for all Rets.

So that's all folks for this week's First Look. Do check back constantly for updates and more First Look coming your way next week.
