Ah well, Dual Wielding Deathknights had a good run since WotLK comes out and all this dreams will/may end after Patch 3.1. I myself is a dual wielding fan, and ever since WotLK is on the beta, I've been messing around with DK talent calc. for the "perfect" DW talent spec. Heck, I even fork out 3k for a [Avool Sword of Jin] And I still say Suck it to all naysayers who believe DKs can only hold big bloody runeblades.

So what killed the legendary 0/32/39 ?

  • Hungering Cold and Howling Blast have switched places in the talent tree.

So Howling Blast is now Frost's 51st talent while the underused, almostuseless Hungering Cold becomes the 31st talent. As 0/32/39, our only main double rune nuke is Howling Blast (FU). Without HB, DW have to find another kind of specs for 3.1

  • Summon Gargoyle moved from Tier 5 to Tier 11.

Mr.Gargoyle, another of 0/32/39 main "nuke" so as to speak, is gone as well. In its place is Unholy Blight, previously Unholy's 51st talent, is lack luster compared to Mr.Gargoyle.

  • Blood-Caked Blade (Tier 4) now has a 3 sec internal cooldown.

No more chaining of BCB, which forms a significant portion of DW attacks.

  • Necrosis (Tier 3) now only affects main hand auto attacks. (Previously affected all auto-attacks)

So only MH weapon can trigger Necrosis, a straight nerf to damage.

  • Black Ice (Tier 2) increases your frost damage by 4/8/12/16/20%. (Previously 6/12/18/24/30%)

While Black Ice nerfed our damage, it'll interesting to see if it's offset by the Glacier Rot buff.

So, with the death of 0/32/39, where should a DW DK's talent points go? On paper, I'd say being at least 51 in Unholy is the way to go if you insist on DWing. You get a Ghoul, more disease damage which is not dependent on your weapon damage, and the buff to Scourge Strike could be *slightly* helpful as its 5% less dependent on weapon damage.

We'll see...Comments? Ideas?
